I didn’t plan on attending a parade but found myself in one after an emergency bathroom break in a chinatown Timmy’s. When I stepped out of the door the street was filled with elaborate and colourful characters, dancing dragons, and the national flag of Taiwan. The parade was short, as parades should be, but it was a delight to see a little piece of Taiwanese culture on a Sunday afternoon. Below you can see some of the costumes. My one complaint is that they should have finished the costumes with traditional taiwanese shoes rather than wearing Mizuno trainers. If you’re going to wear a giant colourful head and a rainbow silk tunic, why not go all the way?
